Sand and Gravel may also be called Torpedo Sand – Coarse Sand – Support Gravel – Filter Gravel – Pea Gravel – The filter sand and gravel we stock and distribute is 99% silica. The sub-angular shape of silica sand enhances the mechanical filtration properties of multi-media filters. It acts as perfect sub-fill for non-silica sensitive applications such as water softeners and dealkalizers.
Aquacheme specializes in industrial grades of sand and gravel to meet your stringent specifications. Highly spherical shape and uniform grading provide Sand and Gravel with reliable performance. Low soluble impurities limits undesirable mineral leaching into the process stream.
Sand and Gravel water filter sand is composed of sub-angular, hard, durable, and dense grains of predominately siliceous material. Extracted from a clean glacial sand deposit, our Sand and Gravel’s physical properties make it among the finest available in the world for filtration applications. Aquacheme water filter sand is washed, kiln dried, and screened to meet exacting specifications with strict adherence to quality control.

Filter sand is an extremely effective filter media because of its ability to hold back coagulum or precipitates containing impurities. Filter sand size, angularity and hardness are the important filter sand characteristics to ensure proper filtering.
Our filter sand is triple washed in our manufacturing process producing a squeaky clean filter sand that is virtually silt and fines free. Initial backwash cycles are reduced as well, saving significant amounts of time and water in your start-up backwash cycle.
